Muhammad Andika Nuna. 2024. NIM 321417116. The Students’ Perception On Teaching Listening Skripsi. Principal Advisor Sri Rumiyatiningsih Luwiti, S.Pd., M.Pd and Irmawaty Umar, S.S, M.Pd Listening is one of the essential skills that EFLs must master. Without good listening skills, one will often experience misunderstandings and fill one's mind with uncertain assumptions. Due to several factors, developing listening skills can take time for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. This study aims to investigate and describe students' perceptions of the teaching listening strategy. This study employed a qualitative method. This study involved English Education students from Gorontalo State University from the class of 2021, who exhibited the highest score in listening subjects as the participants using purposive sampling. The data was collected through interviews—data analysis utilizing thematic analysis to uncover patterns and explain phenomena from the researcher's perspective. The study’s findings included the effectiveness of note-taking for organizing information and the benefits of the pause-and-repeat method for clarification. This study concludes that the implementation of listening learning strategies in the classroom is highly effective due to the efficient teaching methods employed by the teacher, which are enabled by the bottom-up and top-down processing methods. These strategies aid students in comprehending subject material through various cognitive processes. The researcher suggests that readers explore the findings, teachers adopt suitable strategies, and future researchers build on this study for further investigation.
