Advisor (1) Dr. Suleman Bouti, S.Pd., M.Hum (2) Jefriyanto Saud, S.Pd., MA The purpose of this study is to investigate the various types of illocutionary acts used by the main characters, especially Simba. In The Lion King (2019). This study used a descriptive linguistic method centered on the analysis of a film entitled The Lion King, which premiered in 2019. Data is collected from these utterances specifically from the character Simba, who is described as a lion prince (Wheeler, 2019). Simba's dialogue serves as the main source of information for understanding the various illocutionary acts featured in the film. The data collection process shows that The Lion King Movie (2019) includes illocutionary acts proposed by Searle (1979). These actions include five categories, namely assertive, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative, each of which has different characteristics. A comprehensive analysis of Simba's utterances in the film reveals that these utterances appear in 27 incidents, which are then categorized according to Searle's (1979) theory of illocutionary action. The data consisted of 12 assertive act events, 4 directive act events, 2 commissive act events, 8 expressive act events, and 1 declarative act event. By studying illocutionary acts, readers including students, educators, and future researchers can gain deeper knowledge about the use of speech acts, especially the illocutionary acts proposed by Searle (1979).
