The objectives ofthe study were to describe the translation problems and the causal factors of translation problems that occur in student’s translated narrative text. The study used qualitative method. Creswell ( 2012, p. 16) states, "Qualitative research is an inquiry process of understanding based on distinct methodological traditions of inquiry that explore a social or human problem and develop a detailed understanding of a central phenomenon”. the data were taken from twelve translated narrative text of student translation class 2019. Equally important, Napu (2016) translation problems classification is used in analyzing the linguistics and non-linguistics problems found in student translated text. To analyzing student’s responses about translation activity, content analysis by Shanon and Hsieh (2005) was apllied to this study. The findings show that students experience difficulties in grammatical form and word choice to translate source language Indonesian into target Language English. the problems mentioned caused by their limited knowledge in arranging the sentence based on the rules of English grammar, lack of vocabulary and limited insight obout translation science.
