The first advisor is Dr. Usman Pakaya, S.S., M.A. and the second advisor is Indri Wirahmi Bay, S.Pd., M.A. In conducting conversation, participants, especially speaker is expected to be cooperative. This is done to avoid misunderstanding among hearer. In fact, speaker is still not being cooperative and tends to do flouting maxim. By using descriptive qualitative, this study investigated the case of flouting maxim of cooperative principle in an interview hosted by Oprah Winfrey with Meghan and Harry as guests. This study aims to find out the types of flouting maxim from the utterances of Meghan and Harry in answering the question from Oprah Winfrey during the interview. The data were collected using documentation technique from the transcript of video interview. After obtaining and collecting the data, the data were classified in each types of flouting maxim based on Grice’s theory. By looking at the situation and context that occurred, the data were successfully analyzed and interpreted. Findings showed that there are three types of flouting maxim that have been found in Meghan’s and Harry’s utterances. The all cases were found as many as 23 times; 14 flouting maxim of quantity, 5 flouting maxim of relation and 4 flouting maxim of manner. Based on the results, each type of flouting maxim occurred in the interview is led by certain situations according to the topic of discussion.
