English Department. Faculty of Letter and Culture. State University of Gorontalo. Advisor (1) Dra. Elsje Louise Sambouw, M.Hum (2) Helena Badu, S.Pd., M.Pd. This is a descriptive qualitative research which aims to know how the implementation of English teachers’ strategy in teaching reading comprehension at SMP Negeri 2 Mananggu. The technique of data collection is observation. This research involved 2 teachers’ as the participants. The data analysis technique uses theory of huberman in sugiyono, they are data reduction, data display and verification. The result of the research shows that the strategies are used by the teachers are : first is brainstorming, it can be seen when the teacher asks students’ opinion. Second is direct instruction, it can be seen when the teacher gives instruction. Third is modeling, it can be seen when the teacher and student give correct example. Fourth is feedback, this can be seen when the teacher gives correction through students’ mistake. Fifth is encouragement, this can be seen when the teacher motivated students. Last is challenge, it can be seen when the teacher gives reward to the students who faster finished the task. So, based on the result it can be concluded that the teachers’ do more use general strategy in teaching reading comprehension skill. Keywords: Strategy, Teaching, Reading Comprehension skill.
