Undergraduated Thesis. English Department, Faculty of Letter and Culture, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Principle Advisor: Dr. Jolanda H.D Pilongo, M.Pd. Co-Advisor: Muzdalifah Mahmud, S.Pd., M.Pd. This study discusses the strategies for teaching foreign languages to very young Learnes at Raudhatul Athfal Al-Mourky. The aims of this study is to see what strategies are used by teachers in teaching foreign languages in very young learners, and also to see the strategies found from the point of view of the zone of proximal development (Vygotsky), scaffolding (Bruners), and multiple intelligence (Gardners) theories. The significance of the research theoretically can help increase readers' knowledge about teaching strategies, especially in early childhood, besides that this research can also be used as a reference for researchers who want to research the same topic in early childhood teaching. The methodology used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The researchers used observations by brought observation sheets taken from Masitoh's book (2014 7.17) which contain seven strategies that teachers can use in teaching very young learners and also the researchers used documentation (theory of TEYL). Researchers also used interviews as supporting data, if there is unclear data during the observation. Other supporting data used by researchers is documentation in the form of lesson plans/RPP to see whether learning process in the classroom was accordance with the learning design. The results of this study indicated from seven strategies, only six strategies are used by the teachers in teaching foreign languages in Very Young Learnes (VYLs). The strategies are exploratory activities, guided discovery, problem solving, discussions, demonstrations, and direct teaching. And one strategy that is not found in the learning process is cooperative learning. From the analyzing the strategies found in the observations, then judging from the three theories used by the researchers, all strategies used in learning process are in accordance with these theories. The most theory that appears frequently from the learning strategies used in the classroom is the zone of proximal development (Vygotsky). Keywords: Teaching Strategies, Foreign Languages, Very Young Learners (VYLs).
