This significance of study is for the theoretically, this research can help and make references to other students interested in studying the same field, linguistics in Pragmatic-Politeness Strategies and can contribute to developing research on pragmatic studies. Through analysis of politeness strategies and provide understanding, information, and references to readers about analytical politeness strategies. While practically, this research can have significant benefits to the future hosts of talk shows, public speakers to use positive politeness strategy and to students who want to study linguistics to enrich their knowledge of the type of positive politeness strategy that can be used. The study employs a linguistics descriptive method to analyze the data. The data in this study is the utterances by Steve Harvey in interviewing kids and collect the data by accessing the official YouTube Channel of the Steve TV Show. To analyze the utterances by Steve Harvey, the researcher used the theory from Brown and Levinson (1987) about politeness strategy. The result reveal, from 15 sub-strategies contained in positive politeness strategy by Brown and Levinson (1987) theory, only 8 sub-strategies were found in Steve Harvey's utterances when interviewing kids, with the total number of 35 data. The most common used category intensify interest to hearer (17 data), the next most used is using in-group identity marks (11 data), following by give gifts to the hearer (goods, sympathy, understanding, cooperation) (2 data) and the rest category exaggerate (interest, approval, sympathy with hearer), being optimistic, assert or presuppose the speaker's knowledge of and concern for the hearer's wants, jokes and includes the speaker and hearer in the activity only (1 data). This research encourage for people to use of positive politeness strategy in interaction. This can help build polite interactions and consider the feelings and comfort of others. Using polite and positive language can create a more open and cooperative communication environment. This helps achieve communication goals such as persuasion, collaboration, or building understanding. Overall, the use of positive politeness aims to create positive interactions and mutual respect and strengthen social relationships.
