Parenting can be defined as a parent's way of caring for, protecting, educating and guiding children towards their maturity process. Differences in styles of parenting can be caused by several factors; one of the factors is parental behavior and attitude that was portrayed in Brave (2012) movie. Therefore, this research aims to find the parenting style applied by Queen Elinor to Merida in the Brave (2012) movie. This research used Diana Baumrind's parenting style theory. The method used in this research is qualitative. The approach applied in this research is a structuralism approach which focuses on analyzing the characterization of Queen Elinor including her behavior and attitude when raising up and educating Merida. Based on the findings, there are two parenting styles applied by Queen Elinor towards Merida in Brave (2012) movie, namely authoritarian and authoritative parenting styles. Queen Elinor applies an authoritarian parenting style to Merida with very demanding on behavior, very demanding on a fashion, very discipline to the rules, very strict to the traditions, and stubborn without considering Merida's feelings. As time goes by, Queen Elinor's behavior changes to be responsive, understanding of Merida’s feelings, and supportive to Merida's hobby, which refers to an authoritative parenting style Keywords: Parenting style, Structuralism, Characterization, Queen Elinor, Brave (2012) Movie.
