Melindawati Hamzah Talalu, 2023. “The Effect Of Task-based Learning on Students Ability in Writing for Academic Purposes” English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Letters and Culture, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The first Advisor is Dr. Hanisah Hanafi, M.Pd, and the second Advisor is Muziatun, S.Pd., M.App.Ling., Ph.D. This study aimed to explore the effect of task-based learning on students’ ability in Writing for Academic Purposes Subject in English Department, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The target participants of this research are students in the third semester academic year 2021/2022 of the English Language Education Study Program at Gorontalo State University. The research was used a qualitative method that the data were obtained from semi structure interview. This study was also used Creswell (2009) theory as the technique of analyzing the data. The research findings showed that the positive effect of task-based learning on students ability in writing for academic purposes subject. Moreover, the effects students more understand about the task given, increase ability to develop an idea in writing, vocabulary, grammar, mechanic improvement, also students’ ability in writing is increased.
